Career in Care

Lydian care provides a variety of roles and opportunities for personal and career development throughout your employment with us – all our senior care workers have developed from within the company starting off as care workers themselves before undertaking necessary training to fulfil the role requirements.

Care workers are asked during supervision and appraisal meetings to inform us of their career aspirations and discussion with their line managers identifies skills and or qualifications required before being suitable to apply for senior roles.

Training

Lydian Care maintain the quality and standard of care within the community with our bespoke induction training to newly recruited staff as well as refresher and developmental training for our existing staff. In July 2013 working in collaboration with safe2care Lydian launched the Lydian care college – giving all our newly recruited home care workers and current staff an online platform to complete or update elements of their training, online access offers us the opportunity for a flexible and an immersive interactive experience.

Topics covered within the college include:-

  • Safeguarding vulnerable adults
  • Child protection
  • Conflict resolution
  • Food Hygiene
  • Infection control
  • Fire Safety
  • Moving & Handling Theory
Our Moving & Handling training is arranged in collaboration with local training providers such as MTA training services and arranged for a group of Lydian staff several times a month within the locality such as Newcastle, Ballynahinch or Lurgan.
All training Lydian provides to its staff is free of charge – we believe the best carers make our agency the best and regularly arrange developmental training sessions such as:-

  • Diabetes Awareness
  • Parkinson’s Awareness
  • Artificial Limbs Awareness
  • First Aid
  • Dementia Awareness
  • TENA Training
And we are always asking our staff to provide suggestions on the training they would like to receive and the format.

And individual courses based on Lydian policy and procedure.
